ARCAthens is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for visual artists to expand the discourse in the arts as well as in the local communities of Athens. Our mission is realized through an artist residency program that provides fully-funded live/work spaces that allow artists to be immersed in—and consequently respond to—the ongoing cultural renaissance taking place in Athens.
The residency program of ARCAthens is designed to support each selected fellow resident for a duration of three months in Athens—covering housing, food, and transportation costs. The program is organized into three sessions per year: Spring, Summer, and Fall. For each session, four fellows (three artists and one curator) will be selected to participate. At the end of each annual cycle, a total of twelve fellows will have completed our residency program.
During their residencies in Athens, participating fellows will have opportunities to meet and interact with Athenian artists, curators, dealers, and collectors. In addition, ARCAthens will arrange a program of exhibitions, lectures and community events, further encouraging the cross-pollination between artists and communities.
